MOVEMENT FOR THE ORDINATION OF WOMEN

bringing change and understanding

bringing change and understanding

Phillip Seale

GDM (AGSM) Convenor MOW Sydney

I have had a long interest in the equality of women in all areas of Australian society, however in particular, in the Anglican Church.

My interest has intensified over the past 10 years with my further reading and group study of various theologians especially the Australian theologian, Dr Val Webb. My attendance at MOW Sydney meetings in recent years has also encouraged me to take a more active role, with the help of role models such as the Rev’d Lu Piper.

Once we achieve equality for women in the Anglican Church around all of Australia then the` stained glass ceiling’ will have been rightly broken.

We need to do this for all sorts of reasons however equity and fairness and a more nuanced understanding of the bible are good starting points.

As an additional reason, women, in my experience, do an equal if not better job at ministry than men, and that will make the world a better place.
